Career Day 2019

Career Day 2019

On Friday April 5, 2019, PJHS hosted our 10th Annual Career Day. Mr. Pierce, along with Mrs. Sowarsh and the other 8th grade teachers, put a lot of time into this event, and I’ve heard it’s one of his favorite things to plan!

Like I said, we just had our 10th PJHS career day and had over 30 speakers scheduled! Some of these names might sound familiar to you: Dr. Craig Brown, Josh Hicks, Gina Kuhn, Mike Foster, and many more! One of the most memorable sessions was Mr Pierce’s himself! He, on top of helping with this whole thing, had a session about being a gigging musician. He told us about his adventures in the rock n’ roll world, well, his version of it anyway! His lead singer, Alison Jones -- Ali by her friends and bandmates -- is also a nail technician! I personally didn’t get to go to her session, but I heard that she did a wonderful job!

Another session that was held that was one of the most popular was Blair Angel, as a nurse practitioner. Her first session was the one that I attended, and let me tell you, it was packed. Another very popular, medical-related session was Jeri Ann Higgins, Mr Higgins’ wife! She did a session on radiology, which I didn’t get to go to, but I heard a lot of great things about it.

Last but not least, you know him, you love him, Dr. Craig Brown, inventor of the world-famous Dr. Brown’s Baby Bottle! Dr. Brown has a whole life story about how he invented the new baby bottle and was even recognized by Ashton Kutcher on Shark Tank! At the beginning of the day, we got the full recap on the story and got to ask questions, and he even had two other sessions! I didn’t get to attend that session, but once again, I heard great things about it.
