The Future; Fortnite Season 9
On May 9, 2019, the new season of Fortnite released. Unlike previous seasons, there wasn’t a giant biome change in a corner of the map. Instead, the location that a lot of people love and many hate, Tilted Towers, was rebuilt after an incident involving Loot Lake. Now the new city, named Eco Tilted, is the hotspot for “sweats”. Retail Row was turned into Mega Mall, and is decently popular. The only iconic location that completely survived these events is Salty Springs, and can serve as a refuge for those who really don’t want to go to Tilted.
Around the two new locations is a device called a Slipstream. They’re basically tunnels with air flowing through them that you can stay inside of indefinitely. This has become one of the most reliable ways to get out of the storm (They aren’t just around the cities.) and are just fun to mess around with. Unfortunately, people have decided that it would be a good idea to stay in them for the entire game. When you are in them, you can move really quickly, making yourself almost impossible to shoot, which I guess could be a good thing. The downside is that it’s incredibly annoying to other people. To fix this, Fortnite made them turn off after the fifth storm circle in the newest update. They also added UFO-esque devices that float in the air that function similarly to volcano vents.
Fortnite Season 9 has definite potential. With a battle pass that has good skins for both males and females, new guns, and interesting map changes, this could very well revive the Fortnite craze in time for the summer.
