Vaping and What it Does to Your Body

Vaping. When you hear this word, you may be thinking about the teens. However, these are not the people that should be taking part in this activity; as a matter of fact, it’s illegal for them. So, what is vaping? Vaping is the action of inhaling and exhaling vapor. This vapor contains nicotine and is just as addicting as cigarettes. There are different kinds--vape pens, Juuls, and vape boxes. Vape boxes are the kind of vapes that you find a lot around teens. Juuls, are also common for teens. These small devices look like flash drives and can be hidden easily, and they also have a higher concentration of dangerous chemicals.

You may know that you must be 18 years or older to buy cigarettes in the United States; that is also the case with vapes. Teens are buying vapes off of other people even if they are 13 years old. E-cigarettes and Juuls can be found in gas stations. The Juul is a type of vape that is popular amongst teens. Other kinds of vapes can be found in vape stores. Some parents allow vapes and even buy them for their child; this is a big problem and they are risking their child’s life. Some teens even put marijuana in their vapes which is a gateway to bigger, worse drugs.

Vaping is very bad for your body. Like cigarettes, vaping can give you lung cancer because of the nicotine. This causes your lungs to shut down which can lead to death. You could also get a blood or heart disease as well. An important one for teens in the developing brain. Nicotine can harm parts of the brain--ones that are responsible for attention and learning. This is something that teens need to look out for because their brains are not yet developed.

Obviously, vaping is banned in schools. Lately there has been a problem with this--students vaping in the bathroom. Many kids have been suspended for vaping in the bathroom of their school and this needs to come to an end. However, there are no bans to vaping statewise, but you must be 18 years or older. However, there are 13-17 year olds vaping. I think this should stop before younger kids begin to do this.
